Univision 34 Atlanta Celebrates the First Hispanic Safety Fair
Atlanta, GA -- WUVG-TV, Univision 34, the first and only Spanish-language broadcast TV station in Atlanta, in partnership with the Latin American Association (LAA), celebrate “Nuestra Seguridad” (Our Safety), sponsored by Metro Atlanta Ford Dealers and Bellsouth. “Nuestra Seguridad” is the first safety fair for the Atlanta Hispanic community and is part of WUVG-TV’s community affairs yearly campaign, “Nuestra Vida” (Our Life). As an integral part of the station’s grassroots effort to reach out to the Latino community, Nuestra Vida combines diverse messages on-air with outreach events throughout the year.
Nuestra Seguridad will take place Saturday, April 24, 2004 at the Latin American Association’s main office at 2750 Buford Highway running from 10:00am till 2:00pm. More than 30 private and government organizations will be on hand to provide assistance with practical and substantial information pertinent to the well-being of the Latino community.
Confirmed exhibitors include the Georgia Department of Labor’s safety committee, OSHA, the Anti-Gang Unit from Gwinnett County, Consumer Credit Counseling Service and the City of Atlanta Fire Department (AFD), The Metro Atlanta, Ford Dealers, Bellsouth, Clínica de la Salud, Georgia’s Department of Transportation, Orlando and Kopelman, Tiendas El Progreso, The Dekalb County Rape and Crisis Center and Comprehensive Dentistry among others. Throughout the day, several seminars will be presented covering everything from personal defense and work safety to preventing juvenile criminal activity and home safety. Also, the AFD will perform a safety demonstration towards the end of the day. Several hundred families are expected to attend the event.
