Univision Chicago Delivers Important Consumer Financial Information in 5th Free Public Information Town Hall of 2006
Over 500 people attended the Town Hall on Saturday, December 2nd sponsored by Chrysler Financial Services
Chicago, IL -- Over 500 people attended Univision Chicago’s “Cuentas Claras” (Financial Know-How) Town Hall on Saturday, December 2nd, which was sponsored by Chrysler Financial Services and held at the Little Village High School in the largely Latino Pilsen community. The December 2nd Town Hall marked the fifth public information Town Hall Univision Chicago has held in 2006. The “Cuentas Claras” initiative represents the financial literacy arm of Univision Chicago’s multi-issue “Avanzando Contigo” (Advancing with You) umbrella community service campaign. The initiative strives to illustrate to viewers how to achieve the American Dream for themselves and their families through financial know-how. In addition to Town Halls, the “Cuentas Claras” initiative is also comprised of a dedicated weekly news segment every Tuesday at 10PM, as well as nightly primetime information capsules Monday-Sunday. In partnership with Chrysler Financial Services, Univision will also be coordinating financial literacy training sessions at local community based organizations throughout the Chicago Metropolitan area. Univision Chicago News anchors Enrique Rodriguez and Paula Gomez moderated lively and informative discussions with panelists Juan Estrada, Chrysler Financial Services; Eddie Brambilia, Illinois Student Assistance Commission; Cecilia Abundis, Illinois Attorney General’s Office; Jose Salazar, Banco Popular; and Jose Salazar, All Star Mortgage on behalf of Fannie Mae. The expert panelists discussed “How to Pay for a College Education,” “How to Finance a Home,” “How to Finance an Automobile,” and “How to Protect Yourself from Consumer Fraud.” The Town Hall will be seen by some 37,000 TV viewers on Univision Chicago’s and TeleFutura Chicago’s award winning public affairs program “Avanzando con la Communidad” on Saturday, December 16 at 6AM on TeleFutura Chicago and at 9AM on Univision Chicago.
