Univision Chicago Delivers Important Tax Filing Information In Free Public Town Hall Meeting

Chicago, IL -- Over 500 people attended Univision Chicago’s “Cuentas Claras” (Financial Know-How) Town Hall meeting on Saturday, March 3rd, which was sponsored by Gladys Wilson and Associates, PC. Held at John Spry Community School in the heavy Hispanic Little Village neighborhood on Chicago's Westside, this was the sixth public information Town Hall meeting that Univision Chicago has conducted in the past 12 months.
The “Cuentas Claras” initiative represents the financial literacy arm of Univision Chicago’s “Avanzando Contigo” (Advancing with You) community service campaign. “Cuentas Claras” illustrates to viewers how to achieve the American Dream for themselves and their families through financial know-how and management.
In addition to Town Hall meetings, “Cuentas Claras” also includes a dedicated weekly news segment every Tuesday in Univision Chicago’s 10 pm local newscast, as well as nightly primetime information capsules Monday-Sunday.
Univision Chicago News anchors Enrique Rodriguez and Paula Gomez moderated a lively and informative discussion with panelists Sandy Wilson, Gladys Wilson & Associates, PC; Cecilia Abundis, Office of the Illinois Attorney General; José Muñoz, Internal Revenue Service; and Salvador González, Center for Economic Progress.
The Town Hall meeting will be seen by nearly 30,000 TV viewers, according to the Chicago February 2007 Nielsen Hispanic Station Index, on Univision Chicago’s and TeleFutura Chicago’s award-winning public affairs program “Avanzando Con La Communidad” on Saturday, March 17th at 6 am on TeleFutura Chicago and at 9 am on Univision Chicago.
In recognition of its responsibility as the #1 5 pm local newscast among Adults 18-34 in any language and the #1 Spanish TV station (according to February 2007 Nielsen Hispanic Station Index and Nielsen Station Index), Univision Chicago launched the “Avanzando Contigo” community service campaign to partner with viewers to help them dream big and achieve their dreams while enriching the Chicago community for the betterment of all.
