KUVN-TV 23 Reigns As Top Rated Station in Dallas for Adults 18-34
Averages Higher Primetime Ratings in May 2006 Sweeps Than Every English-Language Station; “Noticias 23” Ranks #1 at 5:00 pm and 10:00 pm
Dallas, TX -- May 25, 2006 - According to the preliminary May 2006 Nielsen Station Index (NSI), Univision-owned station KUVN-TV 23 was consistently the #1 station among Adults 18-34, regardless of language, during Primetime, Sign-on to Sign-off, Prime Access, Early Fringe, Daytime, and Early Morning, and also had the most watched local newscasts at 5:00 pm and 10:00 pm. During Primetime Univision claimed the #1 spot with a 3.7 rating. This represents 5.7% more Adult 18-34 viewers than the #2 station, ABC affiliate WFAA, which had an average primetime rating of 3.4. The third highest rated station for this increasingly hard to reach demographic was FOX affiliate KDFW, with a 2.6, a 42% difference.
The May 2006 ratings period marks the fifth consecutive Nielsen sweep where KUVN-TV has ranked as Dallas’ top rated station among Adults 18-34 during primetime. KUVN-23 also ranked first in April 2006, March 2006, February 2006, January 2006, and November 2005. KUVN-TV ranked first among 5:00 p.m. newscasts, with its “Noticias 23: Cinco en Punto” (Five on Point) posting higher ratings among both Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49 than their English- language competitors. The nightly newscast for KUVN-23, “Noticias 23: Edición Nocturna” (Nightly Edition) at 10:00 pm was also the #1 newscast for Adults 18-34.
