Detroit, MI -- Ford continues its pioneering efforts in marketing to Hispanics as it becomes the first automotive manufacturer to advertise on Univision Network’s new WUDT-TV Equity Broadcasting Channel 23 Detroit affiliate.
The television ads, which began airing in February, feature the recently launched all-new 2005 Ford Mustang, Five Hundred and Freestyle, as well as the industry's best-selling vehicle, the 2005 Ford F-150. WUDT-TV’s signal reaches over 2.6 million people, including metro Detroit's Hispanic population of 164,300, which has grown 66 percent over the past decade. WDUT-TV will begin local newscasts, Monday through Friday, at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., beginning in April 2005. “We are proud to sponsor and welcome Univision and WUDT-TV to the metro Detroit area. The growing Hispanic community may now enjoy quality programming from the leading Spanish-language network,” said Steve Lyons, president of Ford Division. “Ford has been committed to our Hispanic customers for many years, and Univision has played an integral role in reaching them. It’s great to have them in our home town.”
“WDUT-TV, Equity Broadcasting and Univision are beginning to have a real impact on Detroit’s Hispanic television viewers,” said Ron Pulera, WDUT-TV general manager. “We’re glad to have Ford as a partner as we continue our work to serve the needs of the community by providing them with high quality local newscasts, sports and entertainment.”
Ford most recently collaborated with Univision during its top-rated “Sábado Gigante” Christmas special by surprising two families in need and one lucky audience member with two all-new 2005 Ford Freestyles and a 2005 Ford Five Hundred sedan.
Univision also has supported Ford’s outreach to the Hispanic community by providing valuable airtime for public service announcements addressing topics such as education and breast cancer.
