Women and Family Festival 2006
Houston, TX -- Univision Radio’s KLTN-FM, KOVE-FM, KQBU-FM, KLAT-AM, KRTX-AM Radio / Houston and H-E-B Grocery Co. present the 4th Annual “La Feria de la Mujer y la Familia 2006” (Women and Family Festival 2006), a celebration for Hispanic women, their families and friends. Together with Univision Channel 45 and Telefutura Channel 67, the event will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2006 from 12p.m. – 7p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center located at 1001 Ave of the Americas in downtown Houston. The event is free to the public. Tickets are available at all Houston area H-E-B stores.
Making guest appearances at the festival, the Legendary Jose Jose, a music icon for over 30 years and recently recognized as the Latin Grammys “Person of the Year”; Dr. Isabel Gómez-Bassols, better known to her legions of fans around the country as “la Doctora Isabel, el Angel de la Radio” (Dr. Isabel, the Angel of the Airwaves), the nation’s foremost Hispanic radio psychologist; and Dr. Aliza, with her unique ways of understanding patients with special attention, will all be singing autographs.
In collaboration with Hispanic Women in Leadership (HWIL), “La Feria de la Mujer y la Familia 2006” is celebrating Hispanic women in leadership positions. The festival will include exhibits, demonstrations, and entertainment provided by celebrities. Well-known Hispanic speakers will present a variety of topics of interest to Hispanic women and their families, including health & fitness, home & garden, fashion & beauty, children’s activities, career & education, art & literature, entertainment, cooking demonstrations, and financial advice. The celebration will serve as an ideal opportunity for many organizations and businesses to share their products, services, and information in a casual and fun environment.
Festival attendees will also be treated to a special appearance by new and upcoming Universal artist, Jeremias and international celebrity hair designer Samy, known as the creative genie and guru of hair-styling.
Additional attractions include dance performances by “Baile Folkorico Tropical”; an evening gown and bridal fashion show by Occasions Bridal & Formal Tuxedo Rental; the “Nuestra Palabra” Art and Literature Pavilion featuring children’s storytelling and readings by well-known authors; a Children’s Activities Pavilion provided by the Children’s Museum of Houston; and blood pressure screenings and aerobics demonstrations by the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Univision TV and Radio personalities will also be present signing autographs, taking pictures and joining in the celebration.
