Univision.Com Becomes the First Website to Successfully Continue MRC Accreditation
MRC Accreditation validates advertising and audience traffic metrics
Los Angeles, CA -- Univision Online, Inc., a subsidiary of Univision Communications Inc. (NYSE: UVN), announced today that it has achieved the next phase of an important industry milestone by successfully completing its second year audit by the Media Rating Council (MRC) Accreditation of the Internet audience measurements on Univision.com and continuing to be fully accredited by the MRC. In March 2005, Univision.com became the first Spanish-language website to be accredited by the MRC. Now Univision.com has become the first website, in any language, to successfully renew its MRC Accreditation.
MRC Accreditation verifies that key audience and advertising measures of Univision.com comply with the MRC’s Minimum Standards for Media Rating Research and the Measurement Guidelines of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). Univision.com’s MRC Accreditation encompasses not only ad impressions and clicks, but also pages, visits, unique browsers and duration. Accreditation validates these measures not just at the overall website level, but also at the level of channels and subchannels.
“Univision continues to be committed to the highest standards of media measurement. Univision.com is the first online publisher to renew its MRC Accreditation,” said Javier Saralegui, President, Univision Online. “Univision.com’s successful and comprehensive MRC Accreditation demonstrates Univision Online’s leadership in developing and promoting accurate Internet measurement and accountability to advertisers, while continuing to provide the Internet’s most innovative cross-platform programming and services.”
“The time, effort and resources that Univision.com has invested towards renewing their MRC Accreditation demonstrates their commitment to the highest level of accountability,” said Greg Stuart, President and CEO of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). “By spearheading the MRC Accreditation renewal process, Univison.com continues to raise the confidence of agencies and advertisers in the Interactive medium.” Auditing of key traffic measurements is gaining momentum in the industry as other leading websites, including Yahoo!, CNET Networks and weather.com, have successfully received MRC Accreditation of their measurement of ad impressions this past year.
