KMEX-TV Begins Countdown to 114th Tournament of Roses Parade

Series of Special Programs and National Broadcast Highlight KMEX-TV’s Spectacular Rose Parade Coverage


Los Angeles, CA -- the leading Spanish-language television station in the country, is well under way with its preparations for its coverage of the 114th Tournament of Roses Parade, live from Pasadena on Wednesday, January 1, 2003.   With over one dozen cameras, including aerial coverage by KMEX’s helicopter Aguila Uno, KMEX-TV will be broadcasting a rich variety of exciting views and vantage points of this world-famous floral extravaganza to Spanish-language viewers, nationwide, through the Univision Network.   KMEX-TV’s coverage will include a camera position located on Orange Grove Boulevard, as well as a unique reverse angle shot on Colorado Blvd.

Programming Countdown
KMEX-TV/Univision will air and produce a series of special programs related to the Rose Parade in the coming weeks, leading up to the prestigious event on January 1st, 2003.

· “Camino al Desfile de las Rosas 2003” [The Making of the 2003 Rose Parade] Saturday, December 28th from 10-11 a.m. Pacific Time on KMEX-TV, Channel 34 KMEX-TV’s energetic meteorologist Francisco Javier Quiroz will host this one-hour “behind-the-scenes” peek at all the exciting, tension-filled preparations that go into producing this New Year’s Day world-class event and what surprises viewers can expect to see during the parade.

· "Desfile de las Rosas 2003: Primera Edición" [Rose Parade 2003: First Edition] Wednesday, January 1st from 5-7 a.m.  Pacific Time on KMEX-TV, Channel 34.  Join “Noticias 34: Primera Edición’s” Socorro Cruz, Guillermo Quiroz and Camila Bastidas live from Pasadena with the first morning broadcast of the year! The team will focus on the latest weather and traffic around the area for New Year’s Day. 

· “Conteo Final al Desfile de las Rosas 2003” [Pre Parade Countdown Show] Wednesday, January 1 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.   Pacific Time on KMEX-TV, Channel 34 and nationally on the Univision Network.  Join Cruz, Quiroz and Bastidas from “Noticias 34” for this one-hour special leading up to the highly anticipated event on New Year’s morning.   As a prelude to the big event, this fun-filled program will have lots of entertainment, interviews and plenty of surprises.!

· “Desfile de las Rosas 2003” [2003 Tournament of Rose Parade] Wednesday, January 1, 2003, 8-10:30 a.m., without commercial interruptions.  Pacific Time on KMEX-TV and nationally on the Univision Network. Serving as hosts for this millennium event will be Ana Maria Canseco from Univision’s ¡Despierta América! and KMEX-TV news anchor Rolando Nichols.  

· “Desfile de las Rosas 2003” Encore Presentation, Wednesday, January 1, 2003, 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Pacific Time on KMEX-TV, Channel 34.  A repeat of the morning’s live broadcast.
