Univision Beats ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox 16 Out of 28 Nights in its First NTI Sweeps Period

Miami, FL --

During its very first sweeps period included in the Nielsen Television Index ratings service, the Univision Network out-delivered at least one of the other four major broadcast networks among Adults 18-34 on 16 out of 28 nights, or a little more than half the entire sweeps period. In addition, it consistently bested NBC and its Olympic coverage among Adults 18-24 for the entire February sweeps.

Program Highlights

• The 2006 “Premio Lo Nuestro” Latin Music Awards aired its 18th annual edition on February 23rd and reached almost 11 million unduplicated viewers (P2+).

-Delivered its highest performance ever among Kids 2-11 and Teens 12-17 and the second highest performance among total viewers (P2+), Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49.

-Was the highest rated program on the Univision Network among Households and key demographics during the February sweep.

• The first season of “Bailando Por Un Sueño” (Dancing for a Dream), a phenomenal ratings winner for Univision on Sunday nights since its premiere on January 15th 2006, aired its finale on Sunday, February 23rd.

-On finale night (up against ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” finale and the final telecast of NBC’s “Winter Olympics”), Univision ranked as the third most-watched network among Adults 18-34 (with 2.0 million viewers) and Kids 2-11 (879,000), beating both NBC and CBS from 8pm-11pm.

-It also beat NBC, CBS and FOX as the second most-watched network among Adults 18-34 between 10pm-11pm.

-The 2.0 million Adult 18-34 viewers on this night was the program’s best performance.

-“Bailando’s” finale helped Univision achieve its highest Sunday night (7pm-11pm) performance ever in the history of the network among Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49.

• Univision set a record with its 7pm novela, “Piel de Otoño” (Autumn Love), which ended on Friday, February 17th, becoming Univision's highest 7pm novela of all time among Adults 18-34 (1.3 million) & Adults 18-49 (2.2 million).

• Univision’s nightly network news program “Noticiero Univision” delivered its highest Adult 18-34 and Adult 18-49 performance compared to any February sweep.

Locally, Univision stations enjoyed equally impressive results.

• For Adults 18-34, KMEX in LA and KUVN in Dallas were #1, beating all competition in several key dayparts: Mon-Sun 6am-2am, Primetime, early news and late news, and daytime.

• KDTV in San Francisco also took the #1 slot in daytime and WGBO in Chicago tied for the #1 spot during early fringe.
