Hispanic Youth Nominate Artists For Univision’s "Premios Juventud"
RBD, Wisin y Yandel, David Bisbal, Thalía, Aventura, Shakira and Antonio Banderas Among Nominees
Miami, FL -- Univision’s “Premios Juventud” (Youth Awards), Spanish-language television’s trendiest and most unconventional awards show, returns for its fourth edition to honor the biggest names in Latin show business, fashion and sports. The 3-hour star-studded entertainment special will be broadcast LIVE from the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami on the Univision Network on Thursday, July 19 from 8-11 pm ET/PT (7-10 pm Central).
Recognizing popularity and overall fan appreciation in five distinct areas - Music, Film, Sports, Fashion and Pop Culture- “Premios Juventud” recipients will be determined by popular vote online on Univision.com (Uniclave: Premios Juventud), the country’s leading Spanish-language website.
“Premios Juventud” will bestow awards in 27 unconventional categories specifically created to celebrate the preferences of today’s Hispanic youth. Winners will be announced within a fast-paced line-up of today’s hottest Latin music performances. Leading the competition with a phenomenal ten nominations is supergroup RBD in categories such as “Red Hot Artists” and “Catchiest Tune.” Reggaetón superstars Wisín y Yandel have eight nominations, including one for “CD to Die For” and “Favorite Video.” David Bisbal (“Best Ballad”) and “Favorite Pop Star” nominee Thalía, each have seven nominations. Following close behind with five nominations each are Anahí (“Best Moves”), of RBD fame, tropical music sensation Aventura (“Favorite Tropical Artist”), and internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Shakira (“My Idol Is…”).
In the film category, Antonio Banderas (“Take the Lead”) is nominated for “Can he act or what?” along with fellow thespians Christian Meir (“La Mujer de mi Hermano”), Diego Luna (“Sólo Dios Sabe”), Gael Garcia Bernal (“Babel”) and Kuno Becker (“Goal”). Nominated in the category of “She Steals the Show” are Adriana Barraza (“Babel”), Ana de la Reguera (“Nacho Libre”), Bárbara Mori (“La Mujer de mi Hermano”), Penelope Cruz (“Bandidas”/“Volver”) and Salma Hayek (“Bandidas”). The films nominated for “Favorite Flick” are “Babel,” “Bandidas,” “El Laberinto del Fauno,” “La Mujer de mi Hermano” and “Volver.”
In the sports category, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Guillermo “Memo” Ochoa, Omar Bravo, Oswaldo Sánchez, and Rafaél Marquez, rival for “Most Electrifying Male Player.” The contenders for “Most Electrifying Female Player” are Ana Guevara, Lorena Ochoa, Maribel Domínguez, Milka Duno and Sofía Mulanovich.
Fans can cast their vote and determine who’s hot and who’s not among the nominees for “Premios Juventud” online at Univision.com (Uniclave: Premios Juventud) through May 31, 2007.
