Telefutura Scores Record-Breaking Ratings with “Selena” Bio-Pic

Sets the stage for sister network Univision’s “Selena ˇVive!” all-star tribute concert to air LIVE from Houston, TONIGHT

Miami, FL -- TeleFutura’s special primetime tribute to the Tejano music star, Selena, made ratings history for the Network on March 31st, 2005. Airing from 7-11 pm ET, a live special titled “Recordando a Selena” (Remembering Selena) and the Hollywood blockbuster film “Selena” ranked TeleFutura as the nation’s #2 broadcast network among all Hispanic demographics that night, only behind sister network Univision.

TeleFutura’s special programming to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Selena’s passing resulted in the Network’s best primetime performance since its launch in 2002 among Total Hispanic Viewers 2+ and Hispanic Teens. Among Hispanic Adults 18-34 and 18-49, March 31ST 2005 ranked as the second-highest rated night in TeleFutura’s history. In addition, TeleFutura delivered 1.2 million more Hispanic Viewers on this night than Telemundo. Across other demographics, the advantages were also significant, with TeleFutura delivering 139% more Total Hispanic Viewers, 305% more Hispanic Teens, 201% more Hispanic Adults 18-34, +143% more Hispanic Adults 18-49, and 106% more Hispanic Households than Telemundo during primetime on March 31, 2005.

The TeleFutura broadcast of the biographical film “Selena,” which aired from 8-11 pm ET/PT (7:00-10:00 pm Central/Mountain) and featured special commentary from its stars, Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos, also marked a ratings milestone for the Network. “Selena” delivered TeleFutura’s highest audience ever among Total Hispanic Viewers and Hispanic Households. It also had the highest performance of any non-sports program among Persons 18-49 since the launch of the network. “Selena” currently ranks as the top movie telecast of all time on the TeleFutura Network among all key demographics.

Judging by the movie’s extraordinary success, expectations are running high for sister network Univision’s spectacular tribute concert “Selena ˇVive!” airing LIVE tonight from Houston’s sold-out Reliant Stadium at 8pm ET.
