Epic Period Drama “Alborada” Starring Lucero and Fernando Colunga to Debut Monday, December 12

Lavish production from the producer of last season’s blockbuster novela, “Amor Real,” explores the difficulties of life and love in colonial Latin America

Miami, FL -- One of the year’s most highly anticipated novelas, “Alborada,” will make its debut on the Univision Television Network on Monday, December 12, 2005 at 9pm ET/PT.

Marking the return to television of superstar actress/singer Lucero after a 5-year absence, “Alborada” (Dawn) takes place in Colonial Latin America, an era marked by injustice and extreme social distinctions. A time when the peasants lived under the iron fist of the aristocratic class, and everyone, rich and poor alike, lived under the dark cloud of the French occupation.

“The character is very human with many shades,” commented Lucero on her new role.  “Very pretty, enchanting, but very strong and she knows how to deal with the very burdensome situations that befall her.”

From the legendary producer (Carla Estrada) and writer (María Zaratini) team of “Amor Real,” one of the most successful novelas in television history, “Alborada” features an all-star cast including “Amor Real” alumni leading man Fernando Colunga and popular actor Ernesto Laguardia along with Daniela Romo, Arturo Peniche, Iran Castillo and Valentino Lanús.

Rivaling “Amor Real” for its lavish production values, hundreds of cast members, authentic period costumes and rich, colonial locations, “Alborada” has become the #1 novela in Mexico.

“Alborada” premieres Monday, December 12, 2005 on the Univision Television Network at 9pm ET/PT (8pm CT/MT).
