Univision to Broadcast Highly Anticipated Fifa World Cup Final Draw Live From Germany
Selection of first round match-ups for the world’s #1 sporting event
Miami, FL -- The World Cup “Sorteo” (Final Draw), the most eagerly awaited event prior to next summer’s soccer mega-event, will be broadcast live from Leipzig, Germany on the Univision Television Network on Friday, December 9, 2005 from 2:30pm – 4:00pm ET (1:30pm – 3:00pm CT/11:30am – 1:00pm PT).
After 847 games involving 194 teams and a total of 2,464 goals scored, 32 national teams will be drawn into groups for the First Round of play to determine the first 48 games of the 2006 World Cup. And with teams such as Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica, Spain, Paraguay, Ecuador, Brazil, and the United States vying for victory next summer, Hispanic soccer fans will be able to witness first-hand the crucial match-ups of their favorite teams. Hosted by “Primer Impacto” anchors Fernando del Rincón and Bárbara Bermudo, the live broadcast will feature “República Deportiva” host Fernando Fiore reporting from Leipzig and sports anchors Pablo Ramírez and Jesús Bracamontes providing expert commentary from the Univision studios in Miami. As a special treat Colombian rocker, and avid soccer fan, Juanes will perform a number from Germany.
By far the most important global sporting event of all, the 2002 World Cup from Korea and Japan was seen by more than 35 million soccer fans on this country’s official Spanish-language network Univision and its sister networks TeleFutura and Galavisión, even though most games were telecast live in the middle of the night. Next year’s games from Germany will air live during the day on Univision and TeleFutura with the “Game of the Day” rebroadcast on Galavisión during primetime, and are sure to break all previous ratings records.
