Juan Luis Guerra To Perform And Receive "Premio A La Excelencia" Special Award On Univision’s "Premio Lo Nuestro"

19th Edition of Television’s Most Popular Latin Music Award Show to Air Live Thursday, February 22, 2007


Miami, FL -- It was announced today that Juan Luis Guerra will join the all-star lineup of Latin music superstars who will perform on the 19th edition of “Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina” (Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards) and receive the coveted “Premio a la Excelencia” special award for excellence. The longest-running and most popular Latin music awards show on television will be broadcast live from Miami’s American Airlines Arena on this country’s leading Spanish-language television network on Thursday, February 22, beginning at 8pm Eastern (7pm Central).

A previous winner of seven “Premio Lo Nuestro” awards, Guerra will be honored for his career-long commitment to excellence. For more than 20 years, the Dominican-born singer/songwriter has been responsible for the expanded popularity of his beloved traditional Tropical music by incorporating contemporary influences into it and writing what many consider to be some of the most poetic lyrics in all of Latin music.

“Premio Lo Nuestro,” the highest-rated annual special among Hispanics in the United States, bestows awards annually to the winners from the 5 most popular Latin music genres - Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Rock and Urban - and Video of the Year.
