Winner Chosen Live On Galavisión’s First-Ever Reality Competition "Misión: Reportar"

Franklin Leal Lozano to Become Newest Reporter for Univision, TeleFutura and Galavisión Networks

Miami, FL -- In last night’s live finale, Franklin Leal Lozano was named the winner of  Galavision’s first season of the reality series “Misión: Reportar” (Mission: Report). He was chosen through a combination of votes submitted to Univision Online by viewers and the collective judgment of a prestigious panel of Univision Networks reporters. The aspiring journalist will receive a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become a reporter/producer/editor for Univision, TeleFutura, and Galavisión, and work alongside the most respected journalists on Spanish-language television.

In addition to an exclusive 9-month contract with the Univision Networks, Leal will receive the use of a Sprint mobile phone for a year and a laptop computer. Before being chosen as the winner of “Misión: Reportar” the two finalists had to complete 3 final challenges. During the live finale, they were required to demonstrate composure and professionalism by conducting a celebrity interview in front of the judges. They also had to cover and report on a breaking news event that occurred over the past week. Finally, they were asked to show off their fun and spontaneous side by presenting music videos as guest hosts on Galavision's popular music program “Acceso Maximo.”

Leal, representing Laredo, Texas, began his television career as a reporter for a station in Monterrey, Mexico. Having also worked as a reporter on radio and television, he has developed a special interest in covering politics and show business.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome of our first season of “Misión: Reportar” said Joanne Lynch, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Galavisión. “The young people who competed brought a level of professionalism and enthusiasm of such high intensity that it was truly a difficult process to select just one to join the Univision, TeleFutura, and Galavisión family. But our viewers and judges agree we couldn’t have done better than Franklin.”

“Misión: Reportar” was hosted by award winning news journalist Carmen Dominicci, who currently serves as a news anchor for Univision and correspondent for “Aquí y Ahora” (Here and Now), the network’s weekly primetime newsmagazine.

A panel of judges including Humberto Delgado, Professor of television production at Florida International University in Miami, evaluated and eliminated contestants throughout the competition. In addition, a variety of reporters and producers from Univision, TeleFutura and Galavisión served as guest judges each week offering their expert advice.

For this dynamic new show, Galavisión partnered with Burger King, Colgate-Palmolive Company, Ford Motor Company, Sprint and Visa as the show’s integrated sponsors. The partnerships included organic product placement, providing valuable exposure for the brands.

Throughout the season, Univision.com (Keyword: Mision) provided exclusive video recaps of each episode. Fans stayed connected to their favorite show via weekly blogs posted by Carmen Dominicci. Univision.com’s post-show coverage includes video clips of the grand finale, exclusive interviews with the winner and the show’s host, as well as photo albums.
