Cristian de la Fuente to Host New Univision Late Night Show
Popular film and television star tapped to launch “¡Ay Qué Noche!”
Miami, FL -- Univision Communications Inc. (NYSE: UVN) – Univision, the nation’s leading Spanish-language television network, announced today that international film and television star Cristian de la Fuente will host its upcoming entry in late night television, “¡Ay Qué Noche!” when it debuts early next year.
As the host of “¡Ay Qué Noche!,” de la Fuente will lead the Univision charge to redefine late night programming on Spanish-language television, much as it did for the morning daypart when it launched its highly successful “Despierta América” program. This original Univision production will feature innovative stage acts, exclusive celebrity interviews, hilarious man-on-the-street segments, and the top musical acts in the Latin entertainment industry.
“It’s such an honor to be chosen among so many talented people to host this unique program,” said de la Fuente. “I’m thrilled to be joining the Univision family. And I’m excited to enter this next stage in my career. Together with Univision, we’re going to create an exciting show that gives our viewers more reasons to tune in late-night.” De la Fuente has starred in numerous television dramas and variety shows in the United States, Mexico, and his native Chile. Recently he served as one of the hosts of Univision’s premiere youth awards special “Premios Juventud.” Currently he is starring in Univision’s hit daytime drama “Soñar No Cuesta Nada.” De la Fuente has also appeared in various feature films such as “Driven,” “Vampires” and “Basic,” and was chosen as one of the “50 Most Beautiful People” in both People (2000) and People en Español (1999, 2004, 2005) magazines.
“Cristian is a multifaceted artist,” says Alina Falcón, Executive Vice-President and Operating Manager of the Univision Television Network. “His dynamic style and versatility will be great assets to the show. We’re very excited to have him join Univision, home of the stars.”
