International Hit Novela “La Fea Más Bella” to Debut on Univision Monday, April 24
Miami, FL -- The U.S. premiere of one of the biggest international hit novelas, “La Fea Más Bella” (The Prettiest Ugly Girl), is slated for Monday, April 24 on the Univision Television Network. The highly anticipated one-hour program will air Monday through Friday at 8pm ET/PT (7pm CT/MT).
The decidedly non-traditional novela was a blockbuster hit from the day it premiered in Mexico, soon becoming the country’s #1 most-watched program. “La Fea Más Bella” stars popular Mexican actress/singer/comedian Angélica Vale and Jaime Camil with one of the most diverse and popular supporting casts ever assembled. Included are such audience favorites as Angélica María, José José, Patricia Navidad, Sergio Mayer, Niurka Marcos, Elizabeth Álvarez, and Luis Manuel Ávila.
“La Fea Más Bella” tells the story of Lety, a sweet, shy, romantic girl who is very intelligent…but alas, not what you’d call “attractive.” Graduating with honors in economics, and a master’s degree in finance, she confidently sets out to find a job, never once considering her appearance an obstacle to success.
Sadly, she discovers that her skills and education are not enough as she is rejected over and over for her plain looks. Desperate to get a foot in the door, she accepts a secretarial position at a leading production company run by the founder’s dashing, but womanizing son, Fernando, played by novela heartthrob Jaime Camil. As the company’s fortunes dwindle and future prospects dim, Lety, now Fernando’s personal assistant, comes to his aid and proves her true value. And falls in love in the process.
Can Lety stand up to the beautiful catty office gossips and win not just Fernando’s gratitude, but his love, as well? And what happens when an unexpected twist of fate turns this “ugly duckling” into a lovely swan? That’s what makes this novela one beauty of a story.
