Univision’s New Show Debuts and Beats CBS and NBC
“Bailando por un Sueño” a Hit
Miami, FL -- Attracting more than 5 million total viewers, “Bailando por un Sueño” (Dancing for a Dream) made Univision the #3 ranked network in the nation according to NTI from 8-11pm among Adults 18-34 beating CBS and NBC on a highly competitive night of first-run programming. The 3-hour dance competition airs each Sunday night from 8-11pm ET/PT (7-10pm CT/MT).
Locally, “Bailando por un Sueño” was a major success, as well. According to NSI, it was the #1 program in its time slot among Adults 18-34 and 18-49 in Los Angeles and was the top rated program of the day beating out such shows as “Desperate Housewives,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and both AFC and NFC playoff games. In Miami, the show made Univision the #2 station in Households during its time period while in New York and Chicago, Univision stations ranked 3rd among both Adults 18-34 and 18-49.
The program’s unique format is no doubt key to its overwhelming appeal. Eight people, each one with their own life-changing dream, are given a famous celebrity dance partner. Each week, one couple will be eliminated from the competition until the spectacular grand finale when a final winner is declared and that winner’s dream is granted.
“We’re extremely pleased with the excellent first-night ratings,” remarked Alina Falcon, Executive Vice President and Operating Manager of the Univision Network. “We anticipate the show’s popularity will continue to grow as audiences get more involved with their favorite contestants and look forward to the exciting conclusion.”
