Placed in an orphanage by her mother who believes she is dying, Marichuy (Maite Perroni) escapes at the age of 14 to live by her wits on the streets. Years later a tragic event changes her life forever and she develops a deep resentment against men. So Marichuy swears she will focus her life on helping those who need it most…and becomes the barrio’s modern-day “Robin Hood,” stealing milk, bread and other bare necessities from the rich to give to the poor kids in the orphanage.
One day she gets into some trouble that finally lands her in court where her own father (though neither of them is aware of this) happens to be the judge (Ricardo Blume). It is there where she meets Juan Miguel San Román (William Levy), a widowed psychologist who pleads her case in court and manages to convince the judge to release Marichuy into his custody.
From that moment forward, Marichuy’s and Juan Miguel’s lives will forever be intertwined. Despite her best efforts, Marichuy will fall in love, and those who come between her and her happiness will find that if you’re going to mess with this angel, you’d better say your prayers.
