Univision News #1 in Gotham, 4th Time in Two Weeks

New York, NY -- On the heels of three record-setting days in which one or more of its newscasts ranked first in key audience measures, Univision 41 (WXTV), New York’s premier Spanish-language TV station, has done it again.

As record heat baked he Big Apple (97 degrees Fahrenheit in Central Park on August 3) Univision 41 set a record with two of its weekday newscasts beating all other news programs in their time period, regardless of language, among viewers aged 18 to 49 and 25 to 54, the two categories most prized by news advertisers.

On Wednesday, August 3, the 6 pm “Noticias Univision 41” (Univision 41 News), the local newscast with anchors Rafael Pineda and Denisse Oller, was seen by 139,110 viewers aged 18 to 49 (1.5 rating) according to Nielsen Station Index (NSI) overnight local people meter ratings.  WNBC Channel 4’s 6 pm news placed second with 83,466 (0.9 rating) viewers aged 18 to 49.  ”Noticias Univision 41” also ran first among viewers aged 25 to 54 with 176,260 viewers (2.0 rating) according to Nielsen.  WNBC/4 again placed second with 115,569 (1.3 rating).

Univision also won New York’s 6:30 pm network news race with 129,836 viewers aged 18 to 49 (1.4 rating) for “Noticiero Univision” with anchors Jorge Ramos and Maria Elena Salinas.  “ABC World News” placed second with 111,288 viewers (1.2 rating).  Among those aged 25 to 54 “Noticiero Univision” finished first with 167,447 viewers (1.9 rating).  “ABC World News” again placed second with 141,008 viewers (1.6 rating).
