Young Gotham TV Viewers Flock to Univision 41 – Spanish-Speaking Station Tops NY in Key News Time Periods Regardless of Language

New York, NY -- Spanish-language Univision 41 (WXTV) is number one regardless of language among New York’s highly prized young adult TV viewers according to recently released Nielsen Station Index (NSI) data from the February 2004 sweep.  In addition, Univision 41 enjoys significant audience gains in most key demographic categories for the February 2004 sweep period when compared with the comparable, February 2003 sweep.

Univision 41 is number one among all New York TV viewers aged 18 to 34 years old in all key local and network news time periods -- 5 pm, 6 pm, 6:30 pm and 11 pm weekdays.  Univision 41’s local news, “Noticias Univision 41” (Univision 41 News), at 6 pm weekdays is also number one among all New York TV viewers aged 18 to 49.  The Univision station leads all New York TV stations in the weekday late afternoon hours, known in TV-speak as “early fringe,” among highly prized 18 to 34 year old viewers with programs, “Classe 406,” a novela, and “El Gordo y La Flaca,” a celebrity chat show, which even draws more New York TV viewers aged 18 to 34 from 4 pm to 5 pm weekdays than the formidable “Oprah” seen on WABC-TV Channel7.

Univision 41’s accomplishments among young viewers are all the more remarkable in that they far exceed the station’s performance in household rating.
