New York, NY -- Univision Communications Inc. (NYSE: UVN), the leading Spanish-language media company in the United States, as part of its Peabody award winning health initiative, Salud es Vida… Entérate! (Lead a Healthy Life… Get the Facts!), will air a special half-hour program to address health concerns affecting elderly Hispanics. Hosted by Univision’s network news anchor, María Elena Salinas, the program “Entérate…Salud en la Tercera Edad” (Get the Facts on Hispanic Elderly Health), will air on Saturday, March 25th on all Univision stations across the country (check your local listings). The program will provide a comprehensive overview of a wide variety of health topics, programs and services related to aging.

“Elderly health is an increasingly important topic for Hispanics across the country,” said Salinas. “I want to help increase awareness about the health issues impacting the elderly in the Hispanic community as they have affected my own family. Better education, treatment and prevention information are critical to lead healthier lives.”
“Entérate… Salud en la Tercera Edad,” will focus on the importance of leading a healthy life and address health concerns such as diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, depression and prostate cancer. The special will also guide elders through the new Medicare plan and identify additional services available across the country that can assist and improve their quality of life. The program will emphasize the importance of physical activity and a well balanced diet.

The special will feature health experts from the National Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, National Association for Mental Illness and the Administration on Aging.

“Salud es vida…Entérate,” is a national call-to-action designed to raise awareness, increase knowledge and encourage positive health decision-making. The initiative leverages Univision’s diverse media assets to educate its audience on health issues and promote primary prevention, habits of healthy living, access to care and disease specific prevention and treatment.
