Univision Communications Names Daniel Taitz as Senior Vice President of Business Affairs for Affiliate Relations

Deanna Andaverde & Timothy Spillane Promoted to SVP Jason Eanes & Gretchen Barnes Promoted to VP


New York, NY -- Univision Communications Inc., the nation’s leading Spanish-language media company, today announced that Daniel Taitz is joining the company as senior vice president of business affairs for the Affiliate Relations team, reporting to Tonia O’Connor, executive vice president of Affiliate Sales and Marketing. The company also announced several other promotions in the Affiliate Relations team, including Deanna Andaverde and Tim Spillane to senior vice president and Gretchen Barnes and Jason Eanes to vice president.  Taitz, Andaverde and Eanes will be based in New York, Spillane and Barnes will continue to be based in Los Angeles.

In his new role, Taitz will oversee all business affairs for the Affiliate Sales and Marketing group at Univision Communications, including negotiations for the distribution of its Univision and TeleFutura television stations and its cable network, Galavisión.  Prior to this position, he served as chief administrative officer and general counsel for Oxygen Media Corporation overseeing the company’s Business & Legal Affairs, Finance and Accounting, Facilities and Broadcast Operations departments.

Prior to joining Oxygen Media, Taitz was a partner at the law firm Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP, where he practiced for 10 years, representing Fortune 50 corporations and financial institutions in connection with mergers and acquisitions, financings and other complex transactions.  While at Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP, he was Oxygen’s outside counsel from its inception until he became general counsel in 1999.  He started his legal career as a corporate associate with Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Taitz received a Bachelors of Arts from Trinity College in 1983 and received his J.D. from Cornell University School of Law in 1986. 

Andaverde has been with Univision Communications for 10 years, most recently as regional vice president of Affiliate Sales in the central region.  Prior to Univision, she worked for GEMS Television as the national director of sales in Los Angeles.  She brings more than 18 years experience in the cable industry working in sales and marketing for both programmers and cable operators. 

Spillane has been at Univision Communications for eight years, serving most recently as vice president of Affiliate Sales. Prior to Univision he worked at Fox News Channel as regional manager for the central region.  He brings more than 18 years of experience in the industry.

Barnes joined Univision Communications in July of 2006 as regional director for the western region.  Prior to this role, she worked at Outdoor Life Network (OLN) and Comcast Networks.  Barnes began her career in the cable industry with the International Channel.

Eanes has been with Univision Communications for the past eight years, most recently as director of Affiliate Sales for the central region.  Prior to joining Univision, he worked for the RK Group, an event planning company in San Antonio, Texas.
