Univision Makes Clean Sweep in Gotham on Last Day of May Sweep –Local News Wins All Key Adult Demos

New York, NY -- May 24, 2006 – Univision’s New York TV station, Univision 41 (WXTV) scored a clean sweep in local news on the penultimate day of the May sweep.  Univision 41 (WXTV), New York’s premier Spanish-language TV station, won all key adult audience categories regardless of language for its “Noticias Univision 41” (Univision 41 News) seen from 6 pm to 6:30 pm last night (Tuesday, May 23, 2006) with anchors Rafael Pineda and Denisse Oller.  Sweeps are the four, annual, four-week periods in which the audiences of TV stations nationwide are measured to set advertising rates.
 
Last night, according to Nielsen Station Index (NSI) Local People Meter (LPM) the 6 pm “Noticias Univision 41” was seen by 86,000 New York area TV viewers aged 18 to 34 (1.9/8 NSI rating/share), 232,000 viewers aged 18 to 49 (2.5/12 NSI), and 222,000 (2.5/12 NSI) viewers aged 25 to 54 years old.  That was enough for WXTV to win the local news race in all three categories.  Telemundo’s WNJU Channel 47 placed second in the 18-34 year old category with 45,000 viewers (1.0/4 NSI).  WABC-TV Channel 7’s local news placed second in the 18-49 year old category with 109,000 viewers (1.2/6 NSI) as well as the 25-54 year old category with 152,000 viewers (1.7/8 NSI).
