‘Objetivo Fama’ Scores Personal Best for NY Telefutura TV Station

New York, NY -- “Objetivo Fama,” the Spanish-language TV talent-search program which has shaken up Sunday night viewing in New York, the nation’s top TV market, has set yet another ratings record.  The April 24 broadcast of “Objetivo Fama” (Fame is the Goal), the weekly reality program in which contestants, who compete for a recording contract with Univision Music Group, are eliminated each week, scored an all time high overnight rating on New York’s TeleFutura outlets, WFUT-TV Channel 68 and WFTY-TV Channel 67 (the latter a repeater in Smithtown, Long Island).  “Objetivo Fama” was seen in a record 157,000 New York area Hispanic households from 7 pm to 9 pm according to Nielsen Hispanic Television Index (NHSI) figures, the highest average quarter hour household audience in the three-year history of New York’s TeleFutura stations.  To date, “Objetivo Fama” has more than doubled its household audience since its January 30, 2005 debut.

“Objetivo Fama” also placed second among men aged 18 to 34 regardless of language, a prized and difficult to reach audience segment.  According to Nielsen Station Index (NSI) ratings, which measure all viewing, regardless of language, an estimated 44,640 men aged 18 to 34 watched “Objetivo Fama,” second only to WCBS-TV Channel 2 in the time period.  That’s the highest ranking ever scored by TeleFutura in New York in any audience segment.  TeleFutura, a unit of Univision, is the newest of the nation’s three, full-service Spanish-language TV networks.

The continuing success of two, New York area contestants, a young man and a young woman, may contribute to the series’ popularity in the Big Apple.  The Finale of “Objetivo Fama” will be seen on Sunday, May 1.
