Gotham’s WXTV Marks Univision Move to Nielsen Television Index by Winning NY Prime Time Ratings Race

New York, NY -- You can’t make this stuff up.  Univision 41 (WXTV), yesterday marked the first time that its co-owned network, Univision, has been measured by the Nielsen Television Index (NTI) by winning prime time in Gotham in the key young audience measures, viewers aged 18 to 34 and 18 to 49 regardless of language preference.  Univision 41 (WXTV) is Gotham’s premier Spanish-language TV station.  The Nielsen Television Index (NTI) panel measures TV viewing of the traditional English-language TV networks on an overnight basis.  Viewing of Univision, the nation’s top Spanish-language TV network, was measured by the NTI panel for the first time yesterday.

Yesterday, Tuesday, December 27, 2005, from 8 pm to 11 pm Eastern Time, according to Nielsen Station Index (NSI) Local People Meter (LPM) overnight ratings, Univision 41 was watched by 155,000 viewers aged 18 to 34  and by 291,000 viewers aged 18 to 49 on an average quarter hour basis.  That was good enough to win prime time in both audience measures.  Telemundo’s WNJU Channel 47 was second among those aged 18 to 34 with 92,000 viewers.  WNBC Channel 4 was second among those aged 18 to 49 with 256,000 viewers.  WNBC finished first among those aged 25 to 54 with 267,000 viewers, but Univision 41 was a close second with 264,000, a statistical tie.
