Univision KTVW 33 Brings Back the Magic of the “3 Wise Men” to Phoenix

Grand event, photo shoot, toy giveaway, will take place following the “3 Wise Men” Parade

Phoenix, AZ -- The leader in Spanish-language television in Arizona, Univision KTVW 33, in collaboration with the Latino Institute, the City of Phoenix and several other sponsors, will bring to Phoenix the magic of a truly Hispanic holiday tradition: “Los Reyes Magos” (“The 3 Wise Men”) with a grand parade through the streets of the City of Phoenix followed by a toy give-away on Saturday, January 7th, 2006.

The parade will showcase several community organizations, characters and entertainment, including the Arizona Cardinals, Arizona State University, Clifford “the Big Red Dog”, Maya & Miguel, Ballet Arizona, Phoenix Community College, mariachi and folkloric groups from Mexico and South America, the “Cowgirls” with their horses, Classic Firefighter Trucks, Clowns, “Los Solecitos” children music group, real camels and a team of City of Phoenix Police Motorcycle Officers, among others.

The main attraction will be, of course, the carriages bringing the 3 Wise Men, escorted by the UNIVISION Girls dressed as “Cleopatra” and UNIVISION 33 talent.
On Thursday, January 5th, UNIVISION 33 will broadcast live the arrival of the 3 Kings to Sky Harbor, where they will be received by Phoenix dignitaries, and local students.
On Saturday, January 7th, the parade will start at 11 a.m. on Third Street and Thomas Road, and will reach its end at Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix.
Following the parade, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., a grand event will take place where families will receive gifts and will have the opportunity to take pictures with the 3 Wise Men. During the event over 8,000 free toys will be given away and more than 3,000 free pictures will be taken.

The UNIVISION 33 “3 Wise Men Parade and Event”, are sponsored by Villa Financial, Wal-Mart, Cox Communications and Arizona Federal Credit Union.

Many other organizations, as the Latino Institute, the City of Phoenix, the Phoenix Department of Parks and Recreation, the Phoenix Fire Department, the Phoenix Police Department, the Phoenix Department of Public Transportation and others have also lend their support to make this event possible.

On the day of the parade, there will be free buses available at entral Park Mall and Central High School (where there will be over 1,000 free available parking spaces) to provide free transportation to Steele Indian School Park.

The event will feature the presence of the Mayor of Phoenix Phil Gordon, the Mexican General Consul in Phoenix Carlos Flores Vizcarra, Univision’s local on-air talent, and the 3 Wise Men as the guests of honor. The event will also feature entertainment for the entire family with local bands, folklore groups and other activities.

The “Three Wise Men” Day is celebrated throughout Europe and Latin America on January 6th as a celebration of the Christian tradition of the Epiphany. It celebrates the arrival of the 3 Wise Men to the place of birth of Baby Jesus as they came bearing gifts of myrrh, frankincense and gold for the newborn King. Children throughout these countries receive gifts as a reward for their good conduct throughout the year.
Join Univision 33 this January 7th in celebrating in all its splendor a holiday tradition that commemorates the Hispanic Heritage in the most traditional Hispanic Christmas celebration: The 3 Wise Men will come to Phoenix, with UNIVISION 33.
