KDTV Univision 14 Continues to Celebrate with Special Campaign and Programs as 30th Anniversary Date Approaches
San Francisco, CA/San Jose, CA -- As its 30th anniversary date approaches on August 13, KDTV Univision 14, the Bay Area’s leading Spanish-language television station, is airing a variety of new programming and promotions celebrating the milestone occasion.
In August, viewers will see new KDTV anniversary promotional greetings from celebrities Gloria Estefan, Pelé, Aracely Arámbula, Jaime Camil, Esai Morales, Daddy Yankee, Mariana, Don Omar, as well as many Univision Network personalities, including Cristina and Don Francisco.
In addition, KDTV Univision 14 will continue to promote its highly successful wish-granting campaign, “30 Años, 30 Deseos” (30 Years, 30 Wishes) through the remainder of the year. Since the campaign launched in early July, the station has received over 1,000 entries. Requests have ranged from computers and a wedding dress to beauty makeovers and home furnishings. Viewers can see the heartwarming stories behind each wish KDTV grants in a special segment of KDTV’s “Noticias Univision 14,” each Tuesday at 11 p.m.
Some of the “30 Años, 30 Deseos” featured stories include:
• A young mother from Hayward, who will be celebrating her daughter’s quinceañera in October, received a full beauty makeover in preparation for the special day.
• A viewer in Oakland wrote to ask for a crib for her 1-month-old baby sister, and was shocked and delighted when “Noticias Univision 14’s” María Leticia Gómez showed up at her doorstep and made her wish come true.
• A young viewer in San Pablo saw her dreams come true when she asked for a sewing machine and money to purchase fabric and materials in hopes of becoming a fashion designer. “Noticias Univision 14’s” Luis Echegoyen presented her with a top-of-the-line sewing machine and $500 to a local fabric store.
• A couple in San José received a brand new computer and printer, which they had requested to help their two children with school homework.
• A family who has not been able to afford a vacation in years, is off to Paramount’s Great America with VIP Season Passes and other special treats.
“It has been an exciting year so far, our “30 Años, 30 Deseos” campaign has had tremendous success as we have been able to touch the lives of some of our viewers in meaningful ways,” said Marcela Medina, vice president and general manager of KDTV Univision 14. “We look forward to continuing to bring new and special features for our viewers to enjoy.”
As was announced earlier in the year, KDTV also plans to produce a half-hour special that will feature historical footage from the station’s archives and will chronicle the incredible growth of the Bay Area’s Hispanic population, which has doubled since the station debuted in 1975. KDTV’s local Website also features a comprehensive section and photo essay sharing old photographs capturing the progress at KDTV along the years.
