Univision Appoints Bert Gomez as Vice President, Government Relations
Washington, DC -- Univision Communications Inc., the leading Spanish-language media company in the United States, announced today that Bert Gomez has been appointed Vice President, Government Relations, effective immediately. Gomez will be based in Washington DC and will report to Cesar Conde, Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, Univision Communications Inc.
In this new position, Gomez will serve as Univision’s in-house lobbyist. His responsibilities will include managing political relations in Congress and at the State level, monitoring legislation, managing political contributions, and coordinating efforts to address issues important to the company. Gomez first became involved with Univision earlier this year in efforts to educate political campaigns on the importance of the Hispanic vote, and he will continue in this capacity as well.
“Bert’s extensive government relations experience, corporate affairs background, and exceptional work on behalf of the Hispanic community make him the ideal person to lead Univision’s government relations efforts,” said Conde.

Bert Gomez comes to Univision Communications Inc. after a 16-year career at the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, where he most recently served as Director of Federal Government Relations in Washington DC. In that capacity, he successfully lobbied issues on Capitol Hill and was responsible for Hispanic outreach efforts at the national level, in conjunction with state and federal legislative goals. Prior to that, he was focused on building relations with political and community leaders in South Florida. Gomez began his career in sales and marketing for the consumer products division at Dow Chemical. He holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Miami and a Masters in Business Administration from City University of Washington.
