Fonovisa Recording Artists Earn Multiple Key Nominations for ‘Premio Lo Nuestro’ 2006 Honoring Latin Music

Woodland Hills, CA -- Fonovisa recording artists Marco Antonio Solis, Los Tigres del Norte, Los Temerarios, Conjunto Primavera, Banda El Recodo, Bronco ‘El Gigante de América’, Ana Bárbara, Los Elegidos, Ezequiel Peña, Zaino and Grupo Innovación receive nominations for the 18th annual Latin music awards competition, "Premio Lo Nuestro A La Musica Latina" (Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards) it was announced today at a press conference held in Miami.
Fonovisa super star recording artists lead the ‘Premio Lo Nuestro’ nominations in the Regional Mexican category with a total of 17.
Latin GRAMMY award winning super star Marco Antonio Solís earned three nominations for ‘Best Album’ for his top selling effort “Razon De Sobra,” ‘Best Male Artist’ and ‘Grupero Artist of The Year’.
Once again Marco Antonio Solis has been recognized for his extraordinary achievement as a true music legend with a successful career as a singer/songwriter and producer. His music has trespassed borders, earning widespread success not only in the United States, Mexico but Argentina, Chile and Colombia.
This nomination adds his countless awards his album “Razon de Sobra” has already earned Gold records in Mexico and Argentina.
Platinum recording & Latin GRAMMY award winning Norteño music icons Los Tigres del Norte earn two nominations for ‘Best Album’ for their album “Directo Al Corazon” and ‘Norteño Artist of the Year’.
Without a doubt 2005, has been an incredible year for Los Tigres del Norte, whom have earned international success, a certified RIAA Platinum record for their classic album “Jefe de Jefes”. In addition, the group is gearing up for their performance at the most prestigious Latin American music festival held in Chile, ‘Festival Internacional de la Cancion de Viña del Mar 2006,’ that will take place February 22 - 27th, 2006. In the category of ‘Grupero Artist of the Year’ Platinum/Gold recording artists Los Temerarios earn a nomination. The group has redefined romantic Latin music in the United States and Latin America, crossing musical boundaries and uniting the hearts of millions of fans.
Norteño stalwarts Conjunto Primavera earn four nominations, ‘Best Album’ for their album “Hoy Como Ayer”, ‘Best Group or Duo’, ‘Song of the Year’ for their chart busting hit “Hoy Como Ayer” and ‘Norteño Artist of the Year’. It has been an incredible year for Conjunto Primavera whose career spans more than 25 years. They have become leaders in Norteño genre earning certified RIAA Platinum and Gold albums while enjoying extraordinary success and achievements at radio and retail.
Celebrating over six decades of a musical legacy, four time Latin GRAMMY award winning Banda El Recodo, once again earns a nomination for ‘Banda Artist of the Year’.
Bronco ‘El Gigante de America,’ marks another important achievement of one of ‘grupero’ music’s premier artists, who received a nomination in the category for ‘Grupero Artist of the Year’.
Popularity continues to follow Ana Barbara’s path who recently earned a Latin GRAMMY (2005) and now receives a nomination in the category of ‘Best Female Artist’.
Ezequiel Peña receives a nomination in the category of ‘Ranchero Artist of the Year’, a perfect nom for an artist who has successfully combined his love for ranchero music and his dedication to preserve the Mexican tradition of the ‘Charreria’.
Grupo Innovación has recently earned successful radio play and sales, receives a nomination in the category of ‘Grupero Artist of the Year’.
In addition, the talent of Los Elegidos and Zaino has been recognized as each recording artist received a nomination in the category of ‘Best New Soloist or Group of the Year’. Banda recording duet Los Elegidos and Norteño act Zaino have each introduced to Regional Mexican music a contemporary, young and fresh approach to the genre.
“Premio Lo Nuestro A La Musica Latina” honors the best in Spanish-language music by awarding the prestigious “Premio Lo Nuestro Award” in numerous categories and several music genres including Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Urban and Rock music. The Univision Network will broadcast ‘Premio Lo Nuestro’ on Thursday, February 23, 2006 from 8-11 pm ET/PT (7-10 pm Central/Mountain) live from Miami’s American Airlines Arena.
With finalists in 32 categories divided into the 5 most popular Latin Music genres of Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Rock and Urban, along with the Video of the Year, “Premio Lo Nuestro” awards are bestowed annually to the very best talent in the Latin music industry. Music nominations were determined from charts compiled by the prominent recording industry trade magazine Radio & Records for the time period of October 1, 2004, to September 30, 2005.
