Regional Mexican Music Idol, Pepe Aguilar Releases New Album Under Univision Records Label

Aguilar's Highly Anticipated Album, "Y Tenerte Otra Vez," Is Released In U.S. Today

Woodland Hills, CA -- Pepe Aguilar, GRAMMY award winner and Mexico’s leading Regional Mexican recording idol and multi platinum artist released his much anticipated debut album, “Y Tenerte Otra Vez,” under the Univision Records music label today.  In this new album, Aguilar not only returns as a producer and singer, but also begins to explore his other creative ability, that of an inspired and accomplished songwriter.

The son of two of Mexico’s most legendary performing artists, Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, Pepe is without doubt one of the finest and most complete performers in the “Ranchera” genre, and is considered by many to be Mexico’s top brass charro (Mexican Cowboy), singer and producer; a gifted recording artist who has added his unique style to the genre and has held uninterrupted successful number-one-hits on international radio.

Pepe Aguilar himself penned the title track of this new album, “Y Tenerte Otra Vez,” in partnership with Juan Manuel Pernas.  His other song, "Indispensable", was written in collaboration with Miguel Luna. "This is quite a varied album,” says Aguilar. "There were 13 songwriters for 14 tracks.  There are many musical propositions and different concepts within Mexican music.  The Rancheras (traditional Regional Mexican songs) in this album are 100% Ranchera songs; I chose them myself.  I love them!  I think Rancheras are the closest thing to rock; they’re full of energy and vitality, without inhibitions or compromises.  It’s simply magical.  To me, Rock is a lot of those things.“

The album also offers some alternative variations, the fusion of Mariachi with Pop and some Jazz.  Another element is Pepe Aguilar’s traditional style, the concept he has created in the past few years, the romantic line, the Ranchera ballad.  A good expression of this type of music is his first promotional single, "Me Falta Valor," a beautiful love ballad in Ranchero format penned by renowned songwriter Teodoro Bello.

Another personal contribution by Pepe Aguilar in this new album is his participation as guitarist in the recording studio, where he alternated with Tito Ruelas, a 21-year old musician, who is also a member of his band.  Other members of the creative team for this album included Regional Mexican music’s top brass such as Paulino Vargas, the man who penned “Camelia La Tejana” and “Lamberto Quintero,” and who contributed "Va Por Tu Suerte," (May Luck Be With You) the epitome of Ranchera music with very traditional arrangements; Manuel Durán Durán, who wrote "El Hombre Es Hombre," (A Man Is A Man); Manuel Monterrosas, songwriter for "El Mecate" (The Rope); and Martín Urieta, who penned the Ranchera "A Pierna Suelta" (Peace of Mind).

His vast discography, which spans over 12 years of unparalleled success, is a testament to his innovative and precarious spirit, and an unusual estrangement from musical prejudices, as he has ventured effortlessly from Banda to Mariachi, and garnered some of the industries most prestigious awards in both Mexico and the U.S.
With the added responsibility of being part of one of Mexico’s finest and most respected musical families, and one of the country’s highest-regarded pedigrees in tradition and artistic accomplishments, Aguilar is more committed than ever to his music and has been working arduously to establish an enviable track record with hits such as Por Mujeres Como Tú (Because of Women Like You), Perdóname (Forgive Me), Corazón Estéril (Sterile Heart), Ya Vete (Leave Now), and Me Vas a Extrañar (You Will Miss Me), to name a few.
