Los Huracanes del Norte Release Follow-Up Album With Univision Records: “Con Experiencia y Juventud”
Legendary “Norteño” act remains hip and contemporary following a successful 30-year history
Woodland Hills, CA -- “Con Experiencia Y Juventud” (With Experience and Youth), this is how the “Norteño” legend, better known as Los Huracanes Del Norte, continues in existence. This new album represents their second effort with Univision Records and the new chapter of the successful career of one of the most important and leading acts in the history of “Norteño” music. The album was released in U.S. and Puerto Rican retail stores on May 25, 2004.
“Con Experiencia Y Juventud” is by far one of the band’s most noteworthy albums, as this is the first time in their professional trajectory that they offer their music in a CD/DVD combo package. The album is comprised of 12 incredible “Norteño” tracks, which are destined to become all-time favorites among their core audience. The first promotional single to be released is titled “Te Perdoné Una Vez” (I Forgave You Once), a “Ranchera Ballad” penned by Guadalupe Garcia.
Included in the DVD are a biography, a photo gallery, and the exclusive premiere of three new music videos: “Señor Cantinero” (Mr. Bartender), “La Hielera” (The Refrigerator), and the first promotional single “Te Perdoné Una Vez” (I Forgave You Once). The DVD also includes some behind the scenes footage of the filming of all three music videos.
Some of the most notable tracks on the album are those that follow the typical humorous style of the band like “La Hielera” (The Refrigerator), penned by Ruben Gallardo, the up-tempo Cumbia “Mis Veinte Novias” (My 20 Girlfriends) by Cornelio Reyna and the tropical-based “Me Curaron Otros Labios” (Other Lips Cured Me), which has a nice Colombian flare to it. Among some of the hottest “Rancheras” included are Hilario Fernandez’s “El Segundo Lugar” (Second Place), “Señor Cantinero” (Mr. Bartender) by Jose Luis Mejia and Fernando Gonzalez, and “Mis Ultimos Deseos” (My Last Wishes), penned by Gabriel Lopez. Nonetheless, an album by Los Huracanes Del Norte would not be complete without the inclusion of “Corridos,” and to fill this narrative tradition, they offer two amazing treats: “Inocente Otra Vez” (Innocent Again) by Arcenio Ramirez and “Cinco Fronteras” (Five Borders), a “Corrido” dedicated to all Central American immigrants and their struggle to make it to the promised land, the good old U.S.A.
Spearheading a new generation of Los Huracanes del Norte with “experience and youth,” the group recently added new blood with the incorporation of 22-year-old Antonio García, son of Heraclio "Rocky" García, director, founder, bassist and lead vocalist of the group, who joined the group in drums as soon as he graduated from high school. The second addition was young and talented José Luis Mejía, a childhood friend of Heraclio’s sons, who joined as new accordionist and lead vocals on several of the tracks. The remainder of the group remains intact with Heraclio "Rocky" García and his brothers Jesús "Chuy" García, accordionist and second voice; Francisco "Pancho" García, six-string guitar; and Guadalupe "Lupillo" García, on saxophone.
Undoubtedly, in 2003 Los Huracanes Del Norte accomplished an unprecedented personal record with their smash hit single “Nomas Por Tu Culpa” (Because of You), which remained in the # 1 position of the Regional Mexican Music Airplay list in the U.S. and Puerto Rico for seventeen uninterrupted weeks.
In the Regional Mexican music genre, “Nomas Por Tu Culpa” became the hottest and most enviable hit of 2003 and the song that will forever remain in the band’s golden track record. Following a respectable and successful career that spans three decades, Los Huracanes Del Norte finally receive the critical acclaim and recognition they deserve as the true leaders of “Norteño” music.
