Univision Records Presents its Newest Pop Sensation: ATM
ATM’s Debut Album “A Toda Máquina” is Hip, Cutting Edge and Simply Dynamic
Woodland Hills, CA -- Univision Records is pleased to announce the hottest act in Latin pop, the Puerto Rican-Mexican quintet ATM and their debut album “A Toda Máquina” (All That Music), which goes into full gear today at retail stores across America and Puerto Rico.
ATM is a fresh and hip Latin pop group comprised of five musicians and vocalists that are as diverse in their music tastes as they are in their geographic backgrounds. Two members, Chelo Mejias, lead vocalist and Fernando Guzmán in piano and vocals are from Puerto Rico, and they contribute to ATM’s sound the pop flavor and tropical influences of the island. On the other hand, Francisco (Kiko) Aguirre on accordion, Justin “J” Moya on the ‘güira’ and vocals, and Kidd Cumbia are originally from Austin, Texas, which sets the solid foundation of the regional Mexican sound and the cumbia-infused rhythms inherent to their style.
Nonetheless, the creative and lyrical alliance of the band rests on the capable hands of two young and innovative musicians who through the years have formed a strong and long-lasting friendship, Kidd Cumbia and his great friend and musical collaborator, Chelo. Together, these young men have developed a unique, fun and passionate collection of up-tempo ‘cumbias’ soaked with elements that range from R&B and hip hop to reggae. ATM’s musical idea goes beyond the ‘cumbia’ format. In their debut album with Univision Records “A Toda Máquina,” the group incorporates a great variety of elements. “There’s traditional ‘cumbia” but new components like rap, reggae and a little bit of each one of us is intertwined to generate the sound that defines our band’s style,” stated Chelo.
The first promotional cut is “Nadie” (Nobody), a hot dance ‘cumbia’ that illustrates ATM’s sound and style by clearly marking its territory with the accordion functioning as the basic premise and common thread of “A Toda Máquina”.
“A Toda Máquina” is comprised of eleven tracks, seven in the ‘cumbia rap’ format, which is the group’s fundamental trait, and four romantic ballads. Among some of the cuts that best characterize ATM, aside from the first promotional cut are “Gangster Cumbia”, a mid-tempo ‘cumbia’ infused with a party flavor energy that undoubtedly defines the group as a potential new Latin music sensation.
With four part harmony vocals that are fully charged with dance energy, ATM promises to satisfy the tastes of the most demanding music critics and dancers everywhere.
