Univision Nombra a Maryam Banikarim Directora de Mercadeo
New York, NY -- Univision Communications Inc. (NYSE: UVN) today announced the appointment of Maryam Banikarim to the newly created position of Chief Marketing Officer. As CMO, Banikarim will be responsible for coordinating the marketing of the company and its four areas of operation – television, radio, music and online. Banikarim was previously Senior Vice President of Strategic Marketing for the Univision Networks. She will remain based in New York and will report to Ray Rodriguez, President and Chief Operating Officer, Univision Communications Inc.
“Maryam has made significant strides in enhancing Univision Networks’ strategic marketing over the last several years, and we are pleased that she will now lead all of our efforts in this arena,” said Rodriguez. “After conducting a thorough search among internal and external candidates, our choice of Maryam for this position was clear. Maryam’s entrepreneurial spirit and proven success in developing and implementing strategic marketing initiatives will be a tremendous asset to us. Banikarim has over fifteen years of broadcast, publishing, multimedia and advertising agency experience. She joined Univision in 2002. Previously, she provided management and marketing consulting services to a variety of clients, including Time Warner, Deutsche Bank, and Bacardi Ltd. Banikarim’s experience also includes roles as Publisher at Macmillan Publishing and General Manager and Marketing Director for CitySearch. In addition, Maryam was a member of the first integrated marketing solutions group at Turner Broadcasting. She began her marketing career in account management at Young & Rubicam. Maryam earned a B.A. in political science from Barnard College where she won the Harry S. Truman scholarship. She also holds an M.B.A. and a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University and sits on the boards of Prep for Prep’s Associates Council and the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center.
