Telefutura New York Supera Niveles de Audiencia Gracias a Objetivo Fama

New York, NY -- Spanish-language WFUT-TV Channel 68 (and repeater WFTY-TV - 67 in Smithtown, Long Island), the New York area’s newest full-power TV station, was Gotham’s most watched TV station – regardless of language preference -- among hard-to-reach young adults Sunday night, April 16, 2006, from 6 pm to 8 pm,  according to Nielsen Station Index (NSI) overnight Local People Meter (LPM) ratings.

The station has an episode of “Objetivo Fama” (Fame is the Goal), it’s popular talent hunt series, to thank for this astonishing ratings development.  “Objetivo Fama” seeks the next Latin music superstar.  Contestants for the TeleFutura TV series are found in auditions around the USA.  TeleFutura, founded in January 2002, is the companion TV network to Univision, the nation’s top-rated Spanish-language TV network, which is seen locally on WXTV Channel 41.

Typically, “Objetivo Fama,” the most popular TeleFutura TV series, finishes second or third, in its time period in the key audience groups, despite tough competition from programs such as “60 Minutes,” “Dateline,” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

Sunday night’s episode of “Objetivo Fama” was seen by 63,000 (a 1.4 rating and 6 share) New York TV viewers aged 18 to 34 years old.  That’s up 12.5 percent from the 56,000 people in that age group who watched the program locally the previous Sunday.
