Univision Nueva York # 1 en Niveles de Audencia
New York, NY -- April 19, 2006 - In an astonishing ratings development, young New Yorkers have made Univision’s “Despierta America” (Wake Up, America) the city’s top-rated breakfast news program for the first time ever, regardless of the language preference of the viewer. Yesterday, Tuesday, April 18, 2006, 50,000 New York TV viewers aged 18 to 34 watched “Despierta America” on Univision-owned WXTV Channel 41 in New York, Gotham’s premier Spanish-language TV station. That beat the 44,000 who watched ABC-TV’s “Good Morning America” on WABC-TV Channel 7, which tied for second with NBC’s “Today” on WNBC Channel 4, according to Nielsen Station Index (NSI) Local People Meter (LPM) overnight ratings. “Despierta America” scored a 1.1 rating and 10 share among New York adults aged 18 to 34 according to NSI LPM ratings. “Today” and “Good Morning America” each scored 1.0/9 NSI rating/share among those aged 18 to 34. It is the first time in it’s nearly ten-year history that “Despierta America” has won New York’s breakfast show ratings race in a key audience category. Earlier this year, Birmania Rios, formerly an anchor of “Noticias Univision 41 Al Despertar” (Univision 41 News at Dawn) joined “Despierta America” as its New York correspondent.
