Los Noticieros en Español Superan los Noticieros Anglo en New York en el Segundo Día de la Huelga de Transito
New York, NY -- With New York in the grip of the second full day of a transit strike, Spanish-language early afternoon local TV news topped the overnight ratings. Among adults 18 to 49 years old and 25 to 54 years old, New York’s two Spanish-language 6 pm TV newscasts, “Noticias Univision 41” (Univision 41 News) on Univision 41 (WXTV) and “Noticiero 47” on Telemundo’s WNJU Channel 47 finished in first and second place respectively, beating all the competing English-language 6 pm newscasts seen on New York TV. A whopping 208,000 viewers aged 25 to 54 tuned into “Noticias Univision 41” with anchors Rafael Pineda and Denisse Oller last night, Wednesday, December 21, from 6 pm to 6:30 pm according to Nielsen Station Index (NSI) Local People Meter (LPM) overnight ratings. “Noticiero 41” ran second for the half-hour with 168,000 viewers. The nearest English-language competitor was WNBC Channel 4, whose 6 pm newscast was seen by 150,000 persons aged 25 to 54. “Noticias Univision 41” also finished first from 6 pm to 6:30 pm among viewers aged 18 to 49, with 186,000. “Noticiero 47” placed second with 184,000. Again, the nearest English-language competitor was WNBC Channel 4, with an even 100,000 viewers aged 18 to 49. New York’s Spanish-speaking TV viewers are believed to be heavier than average users of public transit affected by the strike.
