UNIVISION 41'S 6 PM LOCAL NEWS #1 IN NY BY WIDEST MARGIN EVER

New York, NY -- The live broadcast last night (Thursday, February 22) of Univision's "Premio Lo Nuestro," the annual Latin music awards show, has emerged as New York's most watched Spanish-language TV program of 2007 according to Nielsen Station Index (NSI) Local People Meter (LPM) ratings.

And in more good news from New York for Univision, its local newscast, "Noticias Univision 41" (Univision 41 News) seen on WXTV from 6 pm to 6:30 pm last night was New York's most watched 6 pm local TV newscast by its widest margin ever among viewers aged 25 to 54, the key audience category for TV news.

Six Hundred Fifty-Four Thousand (654,000) New York area TV viewers watched the three hour broadcast from 8 pm to 11 pm last night on Univision 41 (WXTV), the New York area's premier Spanish-language TV station.  That's an increase of eight percent over the 608,000 who watched the 2006 "Premio Lo Nuestro" broadcast on February 23, 2006.  The audience for "Premio Lo Nuestro" also jumped significantly in the hotly contested audience categories, persons aged 18 to 49 and 25 to 54.   Among New Yorkers aged 18 to 49, 353,000 watched "Premio Lo Nuestro," an 11 percent increase over the 2006 broadcast.  Among those aged 25 to 54, the increase was even greater.  A whopping 357,000 New Yorkers aged 25 to 54 years old watched "Premio Lo Nuestro" last night, a 23% jump over last year's figures.

The 2007 "Premio Lo Nuestro" is the most watched Spanish-language program of 2007 in New York among both households and person aged 25 to 54.  In other key categories, the only program to outdraw the 2007 "Premio Lo Nuestro" were a couple of episodes of Univision's hit novela, "La Fea Mas Bella," a testament to the drawing power of the popular prime time series.

"Premio Lo Nuestro" also beat typical Univision 41 Thursday night programming by a mile.   Compared to the previous three Thursdays in the February 2007 sweep period, February 1, 8, and 15, "Premio Lo Nuestro" attracted 54 percent more total viewers in its 8 pm to 11 pm time period, including 61% more viewers aged 18 to 49 and 66% more viewers aged 25 to 54.

The 6 pm "Noticias Univision 41" with anchors Rafael Pineda and Denisse Oller last night was watched by 242,000 New York TV viewers aged 25 to 54, making it New York's most watched 6 pm TV news program regardless of language.  Second place "Eyewitness News" on WABC-TV was seen by 201,000 New York viewers aged 25 to 54.  The Univision margin of victory, 41,000 viewers aged 25 to 54, is its largest victory margin ever.
