Univision 33: La Estación de Televisión #1 en Phoenix en Ratings Durante Mayo 2008

Station Takes Lead in the Market Among All Broadcasters, Regardless of Language


Phoenix, AZ -- At the conclusion of the May 2008 Sweeps on May 21, 2008, KTVW-TV Univision 33 in Phoenix leads all other television stations in the market, regardless of language.  The May 2008 measurement marks the first major sweep period in Phoenix using Nielsen’s electronic Local People Meters. Results from the Nielsen Station Index (NSI) confirms KTVW-TV Univision 33’s leadership position  in various dayparts among key demographic groups, including Adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. 

Overall Highlights

• KTVW-TV delivered 41 of the top 50 most watched telecasts among Adults 18-34 and 27 of the top 50 most watched telecasts among Adults 18-49.

• KTVW-TV Univision 33 is the most watched television station in Phoenix in total day (Monday to Sunday 6 am to 2 am), commanding a +150% lead over #2 ranked KPNX-TV NBC 12 among Adults 18-34 and +55% and +15% ratings leads over #2 ranked KSAZ-TV FOX 10 among Adults 18-49 and 25-54 respectively.

Primetime Highlights

• KTVW-TV Univision 33 is the #1 station in primetime among Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49. The station also leads #2 ranked KSAZ-TV FOX 10 by +63% and +13% among Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49 respectively. Among Adults 25-54, KTVW-TV Univision 33 ranks a close second, trailing KSAZ-TV FOX 10 by a mere half of a rating point.

• Among the Valley’s major broadcasters, KTVW-TV Univision 33 was the most watched station 19 of the 28 nights among Adults 18-34 and 14 of the 28 nights among Adults 18-49.

• “Al Diablo con los Guapos” (Down with the Beautiful) at 7 pm delivered more Adults 18-34 than Fox’s “American Idol” half of the time during the May Sweeps (4 out of the 8 nights).

Primetime rotation defined as M-Sa 7P-10P/Su 6P-10P for ABC/CBS/NBC/KTVK/UNI and M-Sa 7P-9P/Su 6P-9P for CW/FOX/MNT.

Local News Highlights

• KTVW-TV Univision 33’s “Noticias 33” (News 33) at 5 pm is the most watched newscast in the Valley. “Noticias 33” not only ranked #1 among Adults 25-54, 18-49 and 18-34 during early local news, it averaged more Adults 18-34 than the combined viewers of KNXV-ABC, KPHO-CBS, KPNX-NBC, KSAZ-FOX’s and KTVK-TV’s 5pm newscasts. 

• Again at 10 pm, “Noticias 33” outranks the competing local news programs with a +64% ratings lead among Adults 18-34 and a +19% ratings lead among Adults 18-49 over #2 ranked KPNX-TV’s “12 News at 10.”

• “Noticias 33 Fin de Semana” (Weekend News 33) on Sunday’s is the most watched program in the
5 pm to 5:30 pm and 10 pm to 10:30 pm time periods among Adults 18-34 and 18-49.
