Double-digit population growth in all Latino demos ranks Sacramento as Nation’s fastest-growing among top Hispanic television markets Explosive one-year growth of 22% among Hispanic adults 18-34
Sacramento, CA -- The Hispanic population in Sacramento is growing much faster than in any other major Hispanic market in the U.S., according to new population estimates just released by Nielsen Media Research. The Nielsen figures show that the Hispanic adult population in the Sacramento TV market grew 10.6% in the last year, and 11.6% among Hispanic adults 18-49. No other major media market had growth in the double digits. The total number of Hispanics in the Sacramento television market grew 6.7% in 2004 and 16.5% since 2003.
This significant growth has made Sacramento the fastest growing among the top 15 Hispanic TV markets in the United States.
The population growth was even more dramatic in the key demographics targeted by television advertisers. Compared to the last year, the Sacramento market saw growth of 21.5% among Hispanic women 18-34, and 22.1% among Hispanic men 18-34.
For the second consecutive year, Sacramento moved up the rankings of top Hispanic TV markets – to number 12 in 2005, up from number 13 in 2004 and number 15 in 2003. The Sacramento TV market, which encompasses Stockton and Modesto, grew to a population of 797,071 Hispanic persons projected for 2005, up from 747,308 in 2004 and 684,376 in 2003. According to Nielsen Media Research, the Hispanic population in the Sacramento TV market is projected to represent 22% of total population in 2005, or more than one out of every five persons.
