APTRA Otorga a María Leticia Gómez, de KDTV UNIVISION 14, el Premio como Mejor Presentadora de Noticias del 2004
San Francisco, CA -- “Noticias Univision 14,” the number one Spanish-language newscast in the Bay Area, received the Associated Press Television and Radio Association Award for “Best Anchor” honoring its weekday news anchor, María Leticia Gómez, for the second consecutive year. María Leticia received the honor from APTRA in April of last year. The award was presented on Saturday, April 9th, in a ceremony held during the 58th Annual APTRA Convention in Anaheim, CA.
María Leticia Gómez joined the “Noticias Univision 14” team in May 2000 as co-anchor of the weekday 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. Prior to joining KDTV Univision 14, María Leticia was a reporter and fill-in anchor for the Univision station in New York City. Prior to that, she was Washington D.C. correspondent for Canal de Noticias NBC and then news anchor for that channel. “It gives us great pleasure to see María Leticia recognized by APTRA for the second consecutive year,” said Sandra Thomas, news director for KDTV Univision 14. “María Leticia is an outstanding journalist and with her integral role on our news team, we look forward to continuing to provide relevant and informative reporting to the Bay Area Hispanic community,”
According to the latest February 2005 Nielsen Hispanic Station Index (NHSI), “Noticias Univision 14” is the #1 newscast at 6pm and 11pm among Bay Area Hispanics. The newscast averages 75% of Spanish-language news viewers at 6pm and 94% of Spanish-language news viewers at 11pm. The newscast is also the #1 newscast, regardless of language, among all Bay Area Adults 18-34, according to the latest February 2005 Nielsen Station Index (NSI).
