KPMR-TV Univision 38 y Puma Norte América Presentan Copa Univision Costa Central en el Estadio La Playa de Santa Bárbara City College

KPMR-TV Univision on-air personalities to host first annual central coast soccer tournament


Santa Barbara, CA -- KPMR-TV Univision 38 and Puma North America present the first annual Copa Univision Costa Central soccer tournament, bringing to California’s Central Coast residents the finest in amateur soccer play.  The first annual Copa Univision N Costa Central will be held at Santa Barbara City College’s La Playa Stadium on Saturday, September 25, 2004 and Sunday, September 26, 2004.  Tournament play will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 25th and will culminate with the championship game on Sunday, September 26th.  Other tournament sponsors include Southern California Ford Dealers, Carl's Jr., Santa Barbara City College, Blue Casa Communications, Santa Barbara News-Press, Don Regan for U.S. Congress and Cumulus Radio. 

The tournament will feature sixteen of the best amateur soccer teams representing Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties. Copa Univision Costa Central will also include Santa Barbara’s own Durango soccer team, which won the Silver Mug Annual National Amateur Soccer Tournament, sponsored by Budweiser, in Las Vegas in February 2004.  KPMR-TV Univision’s on-air personalities will host the event and Armando Romero, El Seòor de los Deportes, sports anchor for KPMR-TV Univision, will profile the teams playing in the tournament three weeks prior to the event.  KPMR-TV U Univision will also air a half-hour special on Sunday, October 3, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. featuring highlights from the tournament, the championship game and awards ceremony.
